Well, howdy there! Let’s gab a bit about somethin’ I saw them city gals wearin’ – you know, them see-through clothes. I tell ya, it’s a whole heap different from what us folks are used to, but seems like it’s all the rage.
First off, I reckon they call it “sheer” or somethin’ fancy like that. It’s like they ain’t wearin’ much at all, but they are. Kinda like lookin’ through a screen door, you see? Lots of mesh and gauze, they say. See right through it, you do. Lord have mercy!

Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s bad, mind you. Just different. These young’uns, they like to show off a bit, I guess. They call it “fashion,” like it’s some kinda art. I seen pictures in them magazines at the store – fancy folks wearin’ it on the “red carpet,” whatever that is. And them TikTok videos, all the young girls dancin’ around in them see-through outfits.
From what I gather, this whole see-through thing is everywhere now. Seems like you can’t go to the store without seein’ somethin’ sheer. They say it’s stickin’ around too, not just a flash-in-the-pan trend. Fall, spring, summer – they’re wearin’ it all the time, it seems.
I heard some folks sayin’ it’s all about bein’ free and expressin’ yourself. They call it “naked dressing” or somethin’ like that. Like they’re showin’ their true selves, I reckon. But shoot, back in my day, you wouldn’t be caught dead in somethin’ that see-through! Times sure do change, don’t they?
But hey, if them young’uns wanna wear it, more power to ‘em, I say. It ain’t hurtin’ nobody. Though I do wonder how they keep warm in the winter with all them holes! And let me tell ya, some of that stuff, it looks like it’d snag on a briar bush quicker than a jackrabbit.
Anyways, from what I can piece together, you gotta be kinda careful with this sheer stuff. You can’t just throw it on and go. You gotta think about what you’re wearin’ underneath, you know? Some folks wear pretty bras or slips, others just… well, I ain’t gonna say. It’s a whole new way of dressin’, that’s for sure. And it ain’t just for fancy parties neither. They wearin’ it to the store, to dinner, everywhere!
Seems like there’s all sorts of ways to wear it too. You can layer it up, put a see-through shirt over a regular shirt, or wear a see-through skirt over shorts. Or you can be bold and just wear it as is. It’s all about your own style, they say. Expressin’ yourself and all that. And the stores, well, they’re full of this stuff. Amazon, Zara, all them big names are sellin’ see-through clothes. Tops, pants, dresses – you name it, they got it sheer.
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. I’m just tellin’ you what I’ve seen and heard. But this see-through trend, it’s somethin’ else. It’s changed the way folks dress, that’s for sure. Whether it’s good or bad, I’ll leave that for you to decide. Me? I’ll stick to my good ol’ cotton dresses, thank you very much. But hey, to each their own, I always say.
One thing’s for sure, though, this sheer stuff ain’t goin’ away anytime soon. So, if you’re thinkin’ about tryin’ it out, go ahead! Just remember what I said about what you wear underneath, you hear? And don’t blame me if you get a chill!
And I also heard that some of these see-through clothes ain’t made so well, and will get see-througher over time, just from wearing it and washing it. So you gotta be careful and buy good stuff if you don’t want to show off more than you bargained for!
