Alright, let’s gab about this Emma Chamberlain gal, the one all you young’uns are always yappin’ about. Heard she’s a big deal on that YouTube thingamajig. Don’t know much about it myself, but my grandkid’s always glued to it, so it must be somethin’.
Now, they tell me this Emma, she’s somethin’ else. Not like them fancy movie stars, all dolled up and puttin’ on airs. This one, she’s… real, they say. Like, she shows you the messy bits, the parts most folks try to hide. Kinda like me after a long day in the garden, hair all a mess and dirt under my nails, ya know? But I guess that’s what makes her popular, this bein’ yourself business.
Heard she used to do them YouTube videos all the time, every week, like clockwork. Can you imagine? That’s a lot of work, even for a young whippersnapper. She said it herself, felt like she was just churnin’ stuff out, not even likin’ what she was doin’. Sounds like when I used to have to can all them peaches, whether I wanted to or not, just to get it done. So, she up and quit that weekly grind. Good for her, I say. Gotta look after yourself, ain’t nobody else gonna do it for ya.
- Now she’s got this podcast thing, “Anything Goes,” they call it. Sounds like she just talks about whatever pops into her head. Reminds me of my neighbor Mildred, she can talk the ears off a donkey. But folks seem to like it, this Emma just ramblin’ on. Guess it’s like sittin’ around the kitchen table, havin’ a good old chinwag.
- And she’s sellin’ coffee now, too. Coffee! Everybody loves a good cuppa joe. Smart girl, this Emma. Knows how to make a buck. Just like my ol’ man used to say, “Find somethin’ folks need, and they’ll pay ya for it.” Though he was talkin’ about chickens, not coffee.
Then there’s all this talk about her bein’ a “face” for some fancy makeup company, Lancome, is it? And somethin’ about bags, too. Seems like she’s everywhere you look these days. Good for her, makin’ somethin’ of herself. Shows you don’t need to be all prim and proper to get ahead in this world.
But the thing that got everyone’s knickers in a twist lately is this “nude” photoshoot business. Yup, you heard right, naked as a jaybird, or so they say. Now, I ain’t one to go around lookin’ at pictures of naked folks, but it got me thinkin’. This girl, she’s always been about bein’ herself, right? So, if she wants to take her clothes off for a picture, that’s her business, ain’t it? Long as she ain’t hurtin’ nobody, who am I to judge? Reminds me of that time old Mrs. Henderson decided to wear a bright red dress to church. Everyone was whisperin’ and cluckin’ like a bunch of hens, but she just held her head high and marched right in. Good for her, I say, and good for this Emma too.
Folks are always gonna find somethin’ to yap about, somethin’ to criticize. That’s just human nature. But this Emma girl, she seems to be doin’ alright for herself. She’s figured out how to make a livin’ just by bein’ herself, even if that self is a little bit… unconventional. And in my book, that’s somethin’ to be admired. It ain’t easy bein’ yourself in this world, especially when everyone’s got an opinion about everything. So, you go on, Emma, do your thing. And the rest of you, mind your own beeswax.
