Them city folk call it a “timeless wardrobe staple,” but I just call it sensible.
- Jeans: Get ya some good, strong jeans. Dark ones are best, hides the dirt, ya know?
- Shirts: A white one, a black one, maybe a checkered one if you’re feelin’ fancy. Just make sure they’re comfy.
- Sweater: Gotta have a warm sweater. Wool’s good, keeps ya toasty. Them city gals like them cashmere things, but they ain’t worth the fuss, if ya ask me. A good ol’ wool sweater will do just fine.
- Jacket: A good, sturdy jacket. Keeps the wind out. Them trench coats, they look kinda silly, but they do keep ya warm, I reckon. City girls call it “trenchcoat and tights”, I’d say it’s just a warm coat.
Now, let’s talk colors. Fall, it ain’t about them bright summer colors. It’s about the colors of the leaves when they fall. Ya know, the yellows, the oranges, the browns. City folk call them “mustard yellow,” “dusky orange,” and “rich browns”, sounds mighty fancy for just plain colors if ya ask me.
Black, that’s always a good color. Hides the stains, ya know? And grey too. Them city folks are wearin’ a lot of grey this year. Said it’s “a key element of current fashion trends”. I say it’s just a good, plain color that goes with everything. Ya can mix it with a bright scarf or somethin’ if ya want to be flashy, but black and grey, they’re always a safe bet. And let’s not forget them boots. Gotta have warm boots. Them suede cowboy boots city folks like look nice but are they good for slopin’ through mud? I don’t think so.
Now, this here “NYC fall fashion” thing, it ain’t just about stayin’ warm. It’s about lookin’ good too, I guess. Them city gals, they’re always dressed to the nines. But even us country folk, we can spruce ourselves up a bit. A nice scarf, a pretty hat, maybe some dangly earrings. Just a little somethin’ to make ya feel good.

So, what’s fashionable in New York, well, it’s gonna be fashionable everywhere else pretty soon, I reckon.
But here’s the thing, y’all. Don’t go breakin’ the bank tryin’ to be fashionable. Comfort’s more important, if ya ask me. And warm. Gotta stay warm when that fall wind starts blowin’. So, get ya some good, sturdy clothes, some warm boots, and a nice hat, and you’ll be all set for fall in the city, or anywhere else for that matter. Don’t matter if it’s “suede cowboy boots” or somethin’ plain, long as it keeps your feet warm and dry.
And don’t forget a good scarf! A scarf can dress up any outfit, ya know? And it keeps your neck warm too. Them city gals, they got scarves in every color and pattern you can imagine. But a plain one will do just fine, long as it’s warm. Remember, it’s all about being comfortable and warm but still looking “chic” as they say. That means looking good without looking like you tried too hard.
