Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in! Michael Rider, that name sounds familiar, like that fella who used to fix my old radio. But this one, they say he’s gonna be the big cheese at Celine. Celine, that’s a fancy name, ain’t it? Like that singer woman, the one who sang about that boat sinking. Anyway, this Michael Rider, he’s gonna be in charge of all them fancy clothes now.
They say he used to work at some other place, Polo Ralph Lauren. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? I reckon it’s another one of them places that sells clothes that cost more than my whole house. But hey, what do I know? I’m just sayin’, that’s a lot of money for some britches and shirts. This Michael Rider fella, must be somethin’ special if they are puttin’ him in charge at Celine.
This whole thing makes me think of my granddaughter, always on that phone, lookin’ at pictures of fancy clothes. She’d probably know all about this Michael Rider and this Celine place. She keeps talkin’ about “fashion” this and “designer” that. I tell ya, back in my day, we wore what we had, and we were grateful for it! Didn’t matter who made it, long as it kept you warm and covered up, that’s all that mattered.
But the world’s changin’, I guess. Everything’s gettin’ fancier and more expensive. Even the names are gettin’ longer and harder to say. Polo Ralph Lauren, Celine, what’s next? Maybe they’ll start namin’ these places after them fancy fruits, like pomegranate or dragon fruit. Who knows! But I bet this Michael Rider fella knows all about it, he seems to be the real deal, to work at those fancy places. My granddaughter, she wanted to be a designer or somethin’ at some point. She used to draw all them fancy dresses in her little notebook. Maybe she should try to talk to this , huh?
Now, they say this Michael Rider ain’t startin’ right away. He’s gonna start sometime next year, 2025 they say. That’s a whole year away! What’s he gonna do in the meantime? Maybe he’s gonna go fishin’, or maybe he’s gonna learn how to make them fancy little sandwiches they serve at them fancy parties. The ones with no crusts, you know? I tried one of them once, tasted like air. This , wonder if he likes them little sandwiches.

I remember when my old man used to buy me a new dress, once a year, for Easter. We’d go down to the general store, and he’d let me pick out any dress I wanted. It was the highlight of my year, I tell ya. Didn’t matter if it was from Celine or Polo Ralph Lauren, long as it was new and pretty. I bet this never had to worry about only gettin’ one new dress a year, hehe.
This Michael Rider, he’s got big shoes to fill, I reckon. They say the fella before him, Hedi Slimane, he was there for seven years. Seven years! That’s a long time to be doin’ anything, let alone makin’ fancy clothes. He must have made a lot of them dresses and whatnot. Wonder where he’s goin’ now? Maybe he’s gonna retire and take up knittin’. Or maybe he’s gonna go work for another one of them fancy places, like that Gucci one, or that one that sounds like a sneeze, Versace! I think this Hedi guy is as important as this , but I am not sure, I don’t know much about this thing.
October 2nd, they made the announcement. Sounds important. Wednesday, October 2nd. A lot happened that day I bet. Probably more than just this news. Like a new soup or something at the market, for example. I saw somewhere that this Michael Rider is not a stranger to Celine, what ever that means. They say he knows some people there, he worked there before, sounds like a movie.
Anyways, this whole thing’s got me thinkin’. Maybe I should try to be more “fashionable,” like my granddaughter says. Maybe I’ll buy myself a new hat, or a new scarf. Somethin’ colorful, somethin’ that’ll make me stand out. Not that I need to stand out, mind you. I’m already pretty noticeable, what with my bright personality and all. But still, a little somethin’ new wouldn’t hurt. Maybe I’ll ask my granddaughter to show me some of them Celine clothes that this Michael Rider fella is gonna be makin’. She will surely be happy to explain everything about and Celine.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about this Michael Rider and Celine business. It’s a strange world we live in, ain’t it? Full of fancy names and fancy clothes and people who spend more money on a shirt than I spend on a month’s worth of groceries. But hey, to each their own, I always say. As long as everyone’s happy and healthy, that’s all that matters. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go have a cup of coffee and a piece of pie. And maybe I’ll dream about wearin’ one of them fancy Celine dresses, designed by that Michael Rider fella. Who knows, maybe one day!
