This here Syracuse place, they got this thing, fashion design. What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s making clothes, fancy clothes. Not like the ones I used to sew for my chickens, mind you. They teach you how to make all sorts of things, fancy dresses and such. It’s a big deal, this fashion design thing.

So, this Syracuse University, it’s got this school thing for fashion design. You go there, and they teach you all about it. They say it’s important to know how to draw your ideas, you know, put ’em on paper. Ain’t that somethin’? Like drawing pictures of them fancy clothes before you even make ’em. Then, you gotta learn how to make patterns. Not like the ones on my old quilt, but patterns for clothes. It’s all a bit much if you ask me, but the young folks, they eat it up.
They say this fashion design program in Syracuse, it’s one of the best. They even got some fancy council, Council of Fashion Designers of America, that says it’s good. Big words, huh? Means it’s a good place to learn, I reckon. They got all sorts of things they teach you, like how to sew, different kinds of cloth, how to drape things. Sounds like a lot of work if you ask me, but folks seem to like it.
You gotta have good grades to get in, though. Not like when I was in school. We just went, didn’t matter much if you were good at numbers or not. But these days, you gotta be smart, real smart, to learn about fashion design at Syracuse University. And it’s not cheap, neither. Costs a lot of money. You need to get good grades, at least 2.8, they say. This is for the minor in fashion design. Sounds like a good idea if you ask me.
- First, you gotta go to school for it, get a degree, they call it. Bachelor’s degree in fashion design.
- Then, you gotta get your hands dirty, practice, you know?
- Make friends, talk to people in the business. They call it networking.
- Show off your work, make a portfolio. Like a picture book of all the fancy clothes you made.
- And, you gotta know your sewing. How to use a needle and thread, different types of cloth.
They say you can get a good job after you learn all this fashion design stuff at Syracuse University. Make good money, too. But you gotta work hard, real hard. It ain’t easy, this fashion design business. They got these international students, too. Coming from all over to learn about making clothes. This Syracuse place must be real special if folks are coming from all over to learn fashion design there.
They got this thing called hands-on learning. Means you get to do the stuff yourself, not just read about it. That’s good, I reckon. Better than just reading books all day. You learn by doing, that’s what I always say. And this Syracuse University, they seem to know that.

They say this fashion design program, it’s recognized by some big shots, these Council of Fashion Designers of America folks. That means it’s good, I suppose. They have competitions and things, and the Syracuse students, they get to be in ’em. Must be exciting for the young’uns.
Now, I heard some folks saying other schools ain’t so good. Like this Marist College. Some fella said he never heard of anyone happy they went there for fashion design. So, I guess Syracuse University is the place to be if you wanna learn about making fancy clothes. I don’t know much about it myself, but that’s what I hear.
This fashion design thing, it’s a whole world, ain’t it? Drawing, sewing, patterns, fancy councils, competitions. A lot to learn. But if you got the knack for it, and you work hard, maybe you can make a good living out of it. And this Syracuse University, they seem to be the place to learn all about it. They even let you do a minor if you are studying something else, if you are interested, you can learn for 18 credits.
If you are interested in learning how to make your own clothes and stuff, this fashion design thing may be for you. You will learn the basic skills. You know, how to make clothes from those patterns and all that. You will learn how to present your work to others, too. It is not that difficult, you know.
So if you’re thinking about fashion design, check out this Syracuse University. They seem to know what they’re doing. And who knows, maybe you’ll be the next big fashion designer. Just remember, it takes hard work. But that’s true for anything worth doing, ain’t it?
