This Shinola in New York, I heard it’s a big deal, right? They got all kinds of things. Like them watches, and bags made of that leather, you know? And some other shiny stuff. Some folks say it’s good stuff. Other folks, they just grumble. I don’t know what to say.
They say Shinola is new, but it is doing big things. Making things here, you know? Like in the old days. Not like now, everything coming from who knows where. That’s what I heard, anyway. They say it’s a “design brand”. What that means, I ain’t sure. But the stuff looks alright, I guess. They craft goods, they say. Crafting, like making them by hand, right?
This Shinola, they got some other companies doing the same thing. Like that Signet Jewelers. They sell them shiny rocks, you know, diamonds. And watches too. And other things. That’s competition, right? Then there’s that Chisholm Hunter. They sell diamonds too. I don’t know about them, but they probably sell some shiny stuff too.
And this other one, Le Vian, I hear. Never seen it myself. And Fope. Sounds foreign, don’t it? All these companies, they are doing similar things, trying to sell you things. They are like Shinola.
Folks talk about this Hamilton too. They say it’s a watchmaker. A popular one. For them folks who really like watches, you know? The “collectors” they call them. People collect all kinds of things. Hamilton, they say it’s American. Or it was. I don’t know. It’s all a little confusing.
This Shinola, even though it’s new, they got these “automatic” things now. What that means, I don’t rightly know. But it sounds fancy, don’t it? Must be something to do with them watches. They are always adding new things, that Shinola, moving fast, I guess.
They got this fella, Daniel Caudill. He’s the “Creative Director.” Sounds important, right? He showed folks around their new place. Must be a big place. In New York, you know. Everything’s big in New York. They say Shinola is making things “crisp”. I don’t know what that means. Maybe it means they are making things good, neat, you know? Like a fresh shirt, maybe.
They got a phone number too. 917-728-3000. You can call them, I guess. If you want to buy something. Or just to talk. I don’t know. They are in that fancy part of New York. Manhattan. Lots of fancy folks there, I hear. They say it is fashionable there, with the latest styles and such. Not like here, we just wear what we got, you know?
And then there’s that Black Friday thing. People go crazy for that. They say there are deals, good prices. This Shinola might have some deals too. I don’t know. I don’t go in for all that rushing around. Too much commotion for me. They have experts on this, can you imagine? They watch for these Shinola deals. That’s what these “Consumer Articles” folks do. They watch for deals. Sounds like a job, I guess.
So, this Shinola New York, it’s something, ain’t it? They are making things, selling things. Competing with other companies. Got a fancy place in New York. It’s all a bit much for me. But people seem to like it. They are trying to make things good, I think. That’s what I got from all this talk about Shinola New York. I just don’t know if they are good or not. But the name sure is popular.
