Well, well, well, look at this, smoking fashion, they call it. Back in my day, we just called it smoking. Didn’t matter what you were wearing, a smoke was a smoke. Now, it’s all fancy-like, with them young folks making it look all glamorous. Like some kind of style, can you believe it?
I seen it on the TV, these young’uns, all dressed up, walking around with a cigarette hanging out of their mouths. Like it’s some kind of accessory, like a shiny button or a fancy hat. They all look sad, all these young people are sad. The world is too fast now. It make them feel bad. They need a smoke because life is too hard.
Smoking is a bad thing
Shoot, I remember when everyone smoked. Your pa, my neighbor, even the preacher sometimes. Nobody thought much of it. But those doctor fellers started saying it was bad for you. Then everyone got all scared. Said it would give you all sorts of sickness. We all know smoking is bad. Smoking is not a good thing. It will make you sick.
- Smoking will make you cough all the time.
- Smoking make your breath smell bad.
- Smoking is bad for your heart, bad for your lungs.
These new ones, they think it’s cool. They see it in the movies. They see it with those pretty folks, all slim and rich. They want to be like them. They think smoking makes them look all grown up and tough. They see their friends do it, and they want to do it too. Kids want to fit in. It make them look cool. But it’s just dumb. They don’t know what they doing.
Smoking and fashion, they are tied together, somehow. I don’t get it. But I seen it. You see all those fancy folks, dressed all nice, they always got a smoke in their hand. Maybe it’s because they are always worried about looking good. They think smoking make them look good. Make them look thin.
I remember when I was a young girl, a long time ago, these folks started saying smoking was fashionable. I tried it, of course. Everyone was doing it. But it just made me cough. And it tasted awful. Like burning leaves. I don’t know why anyone would want to do that to themselves. I quit right away. I don’t like it.
These young people smoking
Now, these young’uns, they don’t care. They say they don’t care if it’s bad for them. They say it help them. They say they are lonely. They say life is hard. I don’t know. These kids have it easy. They don’t know hard. Back in my day, we worked. We work hard. We don’t have time to smoke and be sad. We just keep working. This is what young people should do.
These kids now, they are all sad and smoke. They think it makes them look cool. They don’t know what cool is. Cool is working hard. Cool is being kind. Cool is taking care of your family. Not puffing on a stick that makes you sick. Smoking and fashion, they don’t go together. Not in my book.
If you smoke, you die younger. It is bad for you. The doctor said it. I don’t know why these young people do this. They want to die early? They want to get sick? I don’t get it. You should throw away the smoke. It make you all sick. Smoking cause you to die young. Don’t smoke, kids.
Smoking is not cool
You see it in the movies, you see it on the TV. All these pretty people, they smoke. They want to make it look cool. But it’s not. It make you smell bad. It make your teeth yellow. No one like that. It is not pretty. It is ugly.
I don’t care what these young folks say. Smoking is not fashion. It’s just dumb. It’s bad for you. It makes you sick. And it doesn’t make you look cool. It makes you look dumb. Like you don’t know any better. These people make you think smoking is good. But it’s not. Don’t listen to them.
Smoking make you die early. That’s what doctor say. It make your lungs black. It make you have a bad heart. No one want that. I don’t know why they think smoking is fashion. They should know better. This is bad.
I hope these young folks, they learn soon. Before it is too late. They need to know that smoking is bad. They need to quit it. They need to be smart. Smoking and fashion is a lie. It make you sick. It make you die young. Don’t be fooled.
