Today I saw a piece of news. It said that Chanel has a new artistic director. I was so curious, so I did some research.
First, I searched for “president of Chanel”. It turned out that the current president of fashion at Chanel is a guy named Bruno Pavlovsky. I was a bit surprised because I thought it would be someone more famous in the fashion world.
Then, I tried to find out who is the new artistic director. According to the news, his name is Matthieu Blazy. This guy is taking over all the important stuff like haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories. Sounds like a huge job, right?
- I dug a little deeper and discovered that Matthieu Blazy will be working in Paris.
- He will report directly to Bruno Pavlovsky. It seems like a pretty straightforward hierarchy.
It’s interesting how these big luxury brands change their designers. The news mentioned that it happens quite often these days. Chanel had been without an artistic director for six months! Can you believe it? They are the second-largest luxury fashion brand in the world.
I also learned a bit about Chanel itself. It was founded way back in 1910 by Coco Chanel. Now, it’s owned by two French brothers, Alain and Gérard Wertheimer. I found out that the company is actually headquartered in London, which is a bit unexpected.
Bruno Pavlovsky, the president, said they have “a lot of confidence” in Matthieu Blazy. He thinks Blazy will bring “modernity and a different approach” to Chanel. It will be interesting to see what he does with the brand.

This whole thing started because I saw a news announcement about the appointment. It ended months of speculation about who would take the job. People were really curious about it.
Before Blazy, there was another artistic director named Virginie Viard. She took over after Karl Lagerfeld passed away. Fashion is a fast-moving world, I guess.
Anyway, that’s my little research journey for today. I just wanted to share what I learned about the new artistic director at Chanel. It was a fun little dive into the fashion world.
