Okay, so let me tell you about this little project I’ve been working on – candid shorts. It all started when I realized I needed some new shorts for the summer. You know, something comfy but also stylish enough to wear out and about. I began looking at what was out there and the different materials available.
First, I did a bit of window shopping, just to get an idea of what I wanted. I checked out a bunch of stores, tried on a few different styles, you know, the usual. I wanted to make sure I got the right fit and style, ’cause let’s be honest, nobody wants to end up with a frumpy look, right? I considered different silhouettes, lengths, and rises, but most of the shorts on the market are designed for beating the heat.
Then came the fun part – actually making the shorts. I decided to go with a stretchy cotton fabric ’cause it’s super comfy and molds to your body, no matter what you’re doing. Plus, it’s breathable, which is a must in the summer heat. I found this awesome fabric that was 100% stretchy cotton, and I knew it would be perfect. After a bit of trial and error, I finally got the pattern down. Then I just follow the pattern, cut the fabric, and sew the shorts.

It’s not about being minimalist, but more about finding that sweet spot where everything just works together.
For example, I tried pairing the shorts with a simple grey T-shirt and a navy blazer. Another day, I went for a checked shirt and plain trousers. I tried adding a light scarf or a jacket to see how it changed the look. The key is to keep it simple and not overthink it. Even when wearing slimming shorts, it’s so easy to end up with a frumpy, uncoordinated look.
It’s all about the fit
No matter what you’re wearing, it’s got to fit right. That’s why I spent so much time making sure the shorts were just the right size and shape. They hug my thighs just right, which I think looks pretty good. The first rule of looking effortless is simplicity – which is different from minimalism.

I’m really happy with how they turned out, both in terms of comfort and style. And the best part is, I made them myself!
