Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with styling lately, and I stumbled upon something that I think is pretty cool – brooches for men. Yeah, you heard that right. Brooches. Those things your grandma probably wears on her Sunday best? Turns out, they can actually be a killer accessory for guys too.

I started digging around online, looking for inspiration, and what I found really surprised me. Brooches have been around forever, apparently. Kings and emperors used to rock them back in the day to show off their status and power. Fast forward to now, and they’re popping up on fashion runways and in men’s style magazines. I was sold.
So, I decided to give it a shot. First thing, I had to figure out what kind of brooch would work for me. I didn’t want anything too flashy or over-the-top. I ended up finding this simple, sleek, kind of minimalistic design. It was perfect.
Next up, I had to decide how to wear it. After some experimenting, I found that the classic way, on the lapel of my blazer, looked pretty sharp. I tried a few different blazers and found that if the brooch color is way different than the jacket, it really stands out. I have this dark blue blazer, almost black, and the silver brooch looks awesome on it. I also tried pinning it near the top of the lapel, through the buttonhole. That looked pretty good too, very classic.
Then I got a little more adventurous. I have this green hue brooch I saw online. I pinned it onto a plain white shirt, right where a boutonniere would normally go. It was a subtle touch, but it definitely added something unique to the outfit. I got some compliments on that one, which was a nice bonus.
Now, I’m not saying I’m going to wear a brooch every day, but it’s definitely something I’ll be incorporating into my wardrobe more often. It’s a simple way to elevate an outfit and add a touch of personal style.

Here are a few things I learned during my little brooch experiment:
- Contrast is key: Pick a brooch that stands out against the color of your jacket or shirt.
- Keep it simple: Especially when you’re starting out, go for a simple, classic design.
- Placement matters: The traditional lapel placement is always a good choice, but don’t be afraid to experiment.
- Make sure the fabric is strong enough: Some of those brooches can be a little heavy.
Honestly, trying out brooches has been a fun little style adventure. It’s pushed me to think outside the box and try something new. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start a trend.
