Okay, so I was just chilling, and this word “Amiri” popped up. I was like, “How do you even say that?” I thought it might be easy, but I wasn’t sure. So, I decided to figure it out.

First, I tried saying it in a few different ways. You know, like “A-mi-ri” or “A-mee-ree”. I mumbled it to myself a bunch, but I still didn’t feel confident. I figured, I need to actually hear this word out loud.

So, I went digging around. I started by just saying it out loud, breaking it down like “AA,” “M,” “IY,” “R,” “IY.” That was kind of helpful to start. But I needed more than that. I wanted to hear it from different people, in different accents.

I started looking around for different resources. I found a few places where I could listen to the pronunciation. I listened to the word a bunch of times. Played it over and over. Then, I tried to copy what I heard.

  • First Try: I practiced saying “AA” like in “odd.”
  • Then: I worked on the “M” sound, like in “me.”
  • Next Up: “IY” like in “eat.”
  • Followed By: “R” as in “race.”
  • Ending With: Another “IY” like in “eat” again.

I kept practicing, listening and repeating, listening and repeating. It took a bit, but I finally got the hang of it. Now, I can say “Amiri” and it sounds pretty much right. It’s like “Uh-meer-ee.”

It was actually kind of fun, figuring out the right way to say it. Feels good to know I got it now. Now, I will not be confusing when saying it.
