Okay, guys, let’s talk about this Snowflake Ball thing I tried to pull off. I had this grand idea, right? A winter wonderland, a real magical night. So, I started planning.

First, I picked a date. January 11th, 2025, seemed far enough in the future to get everything sorted. Then I figured a time, 5 PM to 9 PM, that felt about right. Then, I started scouting for a location. I wanted someplace special, you know? Not just any old community center. The Live was the place to do this event. It looked amazing in pictures, all fancy and spacious.
Next up, I started thinking about what we’d actually do at this ball. I got the idea from the “Winter Spotlight”, an event that seemed pretty cool. People could come, dance, and maybe we could set up some portals to different winter-themed online things. I also looked at some other events, like the one at The Pierre Hotels Grand Ballroom, and another one called the Blade Ball Holiday Event, just to see what they were doing right.
Then I really started pushing the event. I got the word out everywhere. I talked it up, saying it would be the event of the season. Like, this is the main thing to do for the holidays, everyone’s going to be there, that sort of thing. I even copied some lines from other event announcements to make it sound super official.
- I made a big deal about it being an annual thing, like the one at the North Kirkland Community Center.
- I emphasized the community angle, like that thing in Farmington where the girls had a blast.
- I even threw in the idea of hot chocolate and champagne, inspired by that event at the Park Avenue Armory.
I really went all out, trying to make it sound like the best thing since sliced bread. I envisioned people talking about it for years to come.
Well, let’s just say it didn’t quite go as planned. It wasn’t a complete disaster, but it wasn’t the magical winter wonderland I had hoped for. Maybe I overhyped it a bit. Or maybe people just weren’t that into it.

Anyway, I learned a few things. Next time, maybe I’ll start smaller. Or maybe I’ll just stick to regular parties. But hey, at least I tried, right?
The Actual Outcome
So, how did it really go? Well, a few people showed up. We had some music, some decorations, and yeah, there was hot chocolate. But it wasn’t exactly a packed house. The portals to other online experiences? Nobody really used them.
It was kind of awkward, to be honest. But you know what? We made the best of it. We danced a little, chatted a bit, and headed home early. I guess it is not a big problem.
I’m not giving up on the Snowflake Ball idea completely. Maybe next year. Or maybe in a few years. We’ll see. But for now, I’m going to take a break from event planning. Time to watch some Netflix and forget the whole thing ever happened. I guess not every event turns out to be a roaring success, right? But hey, it was a learning experience. And who knows, maybe someday the Snowflake Ball will be the talk of the town. Just not this year.
