Alright, alright, let’s gab a bit about this… uh… “madeleine white,” whatever that is. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ you’d find in a rich folks’ house. But never you mind, I’ll tell ya what I know, the way I know how.
So, this Madeleine White girl, from what I gather, she’s one of them youngsters on the internet, makin’ videos. Yeah, like them things my grandkids watch on their phones all day long. She does this… “GRWM” thing. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like a car part to me. But apparently, it’s about gettin’ ready. You know, washin’ your face, puttin’ on the war paint, that kinda stuff.
Now, I ain’t no expert on lookin’ pretty. My beauty routine used to be washin’ my face with well water and callin’ it a day. But this girl, she’s got all sorts of creams and powders and whatnot. I reckon she spends more time on her face than I spend milkin’ the cows! And she shows it all off on them videos, step by step. Thursday chat, she calls it. Like we’re all sittin’ around a table havin’ tea, except we’re starin’ at a screen.
- First, she washes her face. I guess that’s important, gotta get the dirt off. Though, I always figured a little dirt don’t hurt nobody. Made me strong, I tell ya!
- Then she puts on all these… serums, I think they call ‘em. Little bottles with fancy names. Probably costs a fortune. Back in my day, we used lard for moisturizer. Worked just fine, kept the wrinkles away… mostly.
- Next comes the makeup. Now, this is where it gets complicated. There’s foundation, concealer, blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipstick… Lord have mercy, it’s enough to make your head spin! And she’s got brushes for everything, different sizes, different shapes. I used to just use my fingers. Good enough for my weddin’ day, good enough for any other day, I say.
- And she ain’t shy about showin’ it all. Puts it on in front of everyone. My old man would have had a cow if I did that. But these young ‘uns, they do things differently.
- Finally, she does her hair. Sometimes she curls it, sometimes she straightens it, sometimes she puts it in a bun. It’s like she’s got a different head of hair every day! My hair’s been the same for the past fifty years: pulled back in a braid. Keeps it out of my face, that’s all I need.
So, why do people watch this Madeleine White? Well, I reckon it’s like watchin’ a train wreck, you just can’t look away. Or maybe they’re tryin’ to learn somethin’. Maybe they wanna know how to put on makeup like a movie star. Or maybe they’re just lonely and want to feel like they’re part of somethin’. I don’t know, and to be honest, I don’t really care. But my grandkids seem to like her, so she must be doin’ somethin’ right. They told me she even talks about things in her life, not just the makeup stuff. Like, if you want to do a chat on a Thursday like her, first things first, get yourself some of that gear and let people see what you are doing.
And what do you need for this “GRWM” thing? Well, from what I’ve seen, you need a whole heap of stuff. All them creams and powders and brushes I mentioned earlier. But I guess it all depends on what kind of look you’re goin’ for. If you wanna look like you’re goin’ to a fancy party, you’ll need more stuff than if you’re just goin’ to the grocery store. Though, why anyone would need all that makeup just to go to the grocery store is beyond me. I just throw on a clean dress and call it good.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ this Madeleine White girl is doin’ anything wrong. She’s just makin’ a livin’ the best way she knows how. And if folks wanna watch her put on makeup, well, that’s their business. Me? I’ll stick to my well water and lard. It’s worked for me all these years, and I ain’t about to change now. But this young ‘un sure has a lot of folks lookin’ at her “GRWM” stuff. It’s a whole different world out there, I tell ya. A whole different world.
But I tell you what. If you want to try to be like her, do your own gettin’ ready thing on a Thursday, you have to have stuff to get ready with. I guess it’s like bakin’ a cake. You need flour, sugar, eggs… you get the picture. So, for this GRWM, you need… well, you saw what I said before. All that powder and paint and such.
