I seen some pictures, mind you. Bright colors, some of ’em. Like a rainbow threw up all over the place. And patterns! Stripes and spots and all sorts of things. Makes your eyes go funny just lookin’ at ’em. But hey, that’s what they like in that Paris. Paris street fashion, they call it. They say the street is the new runway. I don’t know about that, all I know is that my old shoes are more comfortable.

They wear them big, baggy pants, too. Like they borrowed ’em from their grandpa. And coats, long ones, down to their ankles. Keeps ’em warm, I suppose. But you’d trip over yourself, wouldn’t ya? Not practical, not for doin’ chores, that’s for sure. These young folks, always wearing clothes that are too big or too small. Where is the common sense in that?

  • Big pants
  • Long coats
  • Bright colors

And the shoes! Some of ’em are like boats. Big and clunky. Others got pointy toes, like you could poke someone’s eye out. And heels, high as a fence post. How they walk in them things, I don’t know. I’d break my neck, that’s for sure. Give me a good pair of boots any day. They say it’s because the fashion there is diverse and elegant. I think it’s just a bunch of odd folks wearing odd things.

They got all these fancy names for things, too. A scarf ain’t just a scarf, it’s a… a… I can’t remember. Something fancy. And a hat ain’t just a hat. It’s a… a statement piece. What’s that even mean? A hat keeps the sun outta your eyes, that’s all it is.

Lots of folks wearing them sunglasses, too. Even when it ain’t sunny. Think they look cool, I suppose. Like them movie stars. But they just look silly to me. They are not even hiding from the sun, so what’s the point of wearing sunglasses? Fashion I guess. Paris street fashion 2024, they call it.

They layer their clothes, too. Like onions. Shirt, then a sweater, then a jacket, then a scarf. Must be mighty hot under all that. I’d be sweatin’ like a pig. But I guess if you are cold, you just gotta layer up like that. I prefer a good old fire. Much easier that way.

They like them shiny things, too. Sparkly bits on their clothes, and jewelry. Like magpies, they are. Attracted to anything that glitters. I saw one girl, she had a dress covered in them little shiny discs. Looked like a fish, she did. Shimmering in the light. This is what the fashion scene in Paris is all about. Shiny things and more shiny things!

  • Shiny stuff on clothes
  • Lots of jewelry
  • Sunglasses indoors

And the bags! Some of ’em are tiny, like you could barely fit a coin purse in ’em. Others are huge, like you could carry a small dog in ’em. What do they put in them things, anyway? Rocks?

I seen one fella, he had a bag shaped like a… like a croissant. A bread bag! Can you believe it? Carrying his things around in a bread bag. These city folk, they got some strange ideas. I would be too afraid that someone might eat it. How would I carry my stuff then?

And the colors, like I said. Bright pinks and greens and yellows. Like a box of crayons melted all over ’em. I prefer more… natural colors. Browns and grays. Like the earth. Like dirt.

They got this thing they call “vintage,” too. Old clothes. Clothes that look like they come from my time. They pay good money for clothes that look like they should be thrown out. I don’t understand it. My old clothes are just old. They ain’t vintage. They’re just worn out.

  • Vintage clothes, which means old and worn out
  • Crazy color combinations, like a rainbow
  • Odd bags, like a croissant

But that’s Paris street fashion 2024 for ya. A mishmash of everything. This is what is popular now. All these folks dressed up in their fancy clothes, walking around, showing off. Like peacocks. Strutting their stuff. They say it is a form of art. I say it is a form of madness! But what do I know?

I guess it takes all sorts to make a world. And if they wanna dress up like clowns, that’s their business. Me, I’ll stick to my old overalls. They’re comfortable, they’re practical, and they don’t cost a fortune. And they sure ain’t “vintage.” They’re just… clothes. Plain and simple. The best clothes are the ones that make you feel good. I don’t think all these fancy clothes make anyone feel any better. Maybe I am wrong, but who knows.
