Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this here “iris through the looking glass.” Don’t rightly know what an “iris” is, sounds fancy, but this here story, it’s somethin’ else. It’s like lookin’ in a mirror, but ‘stead of seein’ yerself, ya see a whole ‘nother world. A crazy world, mind ya.

This here book, it’s got all sorts of chapters, and each one’s more mixed up than the last. They got folks tryin’ ta ‘splain it, sayin’ it’s ’bout navigatin’ a world with rules that don’t make no sense. Well, I coulda told ya that without readin’ no book! Life’s like that sometimes, ain’t it? One minute you think ya got it all figured out, the next minute you’re fallin’ down a rabbit hole, or in this case, climbin’ through a lookin’ glass.
- First off, they talk about buildin’ up yer words, learnin’ fancy ones and such. Me? I just say what I mean, no need for big, flowery talk. But I guess some folks like that kinda thing.
- Then they go on ’bout findin’ words that mean the same, or sound the same, but ain’t. Sounds like a whole lotta trouble to me. Why not just say what ya gotta say and be done with it?
- And this here anagrams thing? Rearrangin’ letters to make new words? Hmph! Sounds like somethin’ a bored school kid would do. I got better things to do with my time, like churnin’ butter or feedin’ the chickens.
Now, this lookin’-glass house, the place where it all starts. It’s all backwards and upside down, just like the world sometimes feels, ya know? One thing’s for sure, though, this girl, she’s brave. She ain’t afraid to jump right in and see what’s on the other side. Reminds me of my granddaughter, always gettin’ into mischief.
They say there’s famous sayin’s in this book, quotes, they call ’em. I ain’t much for quotin’, but I reckon there’s some truth in some of them old-timey words. This book, it makes ya think, even if ya don’t understand half of it. It’s like lookin’ at a puzzle, tryin’ to fit all the pieces together. Sometimes ya do, sometimes ya don’t, but it’s the tryin’ that counts, ain’t it?
It seems this story helps with quizzes. Don’t rightly know what a quiz is other than that’s what them school teachers give youngins to see what they remember from books like this one. Never had one myself, no time for that in my day. Too busy workin’ the fields and keepin’ the house. But I guess if this book can help young folks with their learnin’, then that’s a good thing. Learnin’s important, even if it’s about crazy lookin’-glass worlds.
This “iris” or whatever it is, through the lookin’ glass thing. It’s a story about a journey, I reckon. A journey into the unknown. And ain’t that what life is all about? Every day’s a new adventure, even if it’s just milkin’ the cow or bakin’ a pie. And sometimes, the most unexpected things happen, the things ya never see comin’. That’s what makes life interestin’, ain’t it? The surprises, the twists and turns.

So, if ya ever find yerself lookin’ in a mirror and wonderin’ what’s on the other side, don’t be afraid to step through. Ya might just find a whole ‘nother world waitin’ for ya. A world full of wonder and nonsense, maybe, but a world worth explorin’ nonetheless. And if ya get confused along the way, well, just remember what I said: say what ya mean, don’t sweat the small stuff, and keep on movin’ forward. That’s the best way to navigate any world, lookin’-glass or otherwise.
And them chapters? Just a way to break things up they say. Seems like a lot but I guess city folk need things spelt out for them. Me? I just get on with it.
So that’s my take on this here book, not that anyone asked. Just seemed like something worth talking about. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got to go and see if those chickens have laid any eggs. Always something to do around here.
