You will not believe what I got myself into last week. So, I was scrolling through Instagram, and I saw this ad for the Louis Vuitton partnership with the Paris 2024 Olympics. And the pictures, oh man, they got me hooked. They showed these amazing trunks, designed by Louis Vuitton, for the Olympic medals. I thought, “I have to get my hands on something like that.”

Louis Vuitton Tray Olympics: Which Tray Wins Your Heart?

I started digging around to see if I could buy one of those trays. No luck. These were custom-made just for the Olympics. I felt so bummed out, I mean, who wouldn’t want to have their own Louis Vuitton medal tray? Then I got this crazy idea – why not make my own? Maybe not as fancy as the official ones, but something close enough to make me happy.

First, I had to find some materials. I went to a local craft store and looked for a wooden tray that had a similar shape to the ones in the photos. I managed to find a decent one, not perfect, but it would do the job. Then, I bought some paints and started getting the color right. The official ones had this sleek, dark finish with the LV monogram pattern, so I tried to recreate that. It was a bit tricky to get the colors to match, but after a few tries, I got something that looked pretty good.

  • First try: Mixed black and brown paints, but it came out too muddy.
  • Second try: Used a dark charcoal color with a hint of metallic sheen. Much better.

The next step was the hardest part – the LV pattern. I thought about using stencils, but I couldn’t find any that were small enough. So, I decided to freehand it. I know, I know, it sounds nuts, but I was determined. I practiced on some scrap paper first to get the hang of it. After a few hours of careful painting, my tray started to look legit. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine, and I was proud of it.

Once the paint dried, I added a layer of clear varnish to give it that glossy finish and protect the paint. I have to say, it turned out way better than I expected. It’s sitting on my coffee table now, and every time I look at it, I feel a little bit of that Olympic excitement. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter when friends come over.

So, that’s my little adventure with the Louis Vuitton Olympic tray. It just goes to show that sometimes, if you want something bad enough, you just have to roll up your sleeves and do it yourself. Sure, it’s not the real deal, but it’s got its own charm, and it’s a reminder that a little creativity can go a long way.
