Okay, so, today I decided to check out Paul Smiths, NY. It’s a place I’d heard about, a small hamlet in the Adirondacks. I packed my backpack with some essentials, you know, water, snacks, a map, and my trusty camera. Gotta capture those memories, right?

First off, I drove up there. The drive itself was pretty scenic, with all those trees changing colors, it was a real treat for the eyes. I parked my car near the Paul Smith’s College campus. It’s a pretty famous college in the area, known for its forestry and hospitality programs. I figured that’d be a good starting point.

I walked around the campus for a bit. It’s a nice, quiet place, lots of students milling about. I grabbed a coffee at their little cafe, you gotta have some fuel for exploring. They had these big windows overlooking the lake, so I just sat there for a while, you know, just soaking it in.

  • Next, I decided to hit the trails. I’d heard about the VIC, the Visitor Interpretive Center, at Paul Smith’s. It’s got all these trails, so I figured I’d check it out.
  • I walked a couple of the shorter trails. I’m not exactly in hiking shape, so I kept it pretty easy. The trails were well-marked, and there were some really nice views of the lake and the mountains.
  • I saw a bunch of different birds, and even a deer! It was pretty cool. I tried to get a picture, but it was too quick for me.

After the trails, I drove around the area a bit more. I stopped at this little roadside diner and had a burger. It was a good old-fashioned burger, nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. I chatted with the waitress for a bit. She was a local, and she gave me some tips on other places to check out in the area. She told me many good stories about the history here.

Then I headed back towards home. It was getting late, and I had a long drive ahead of me. Overall, it was a pretty chill day. Paul Smiths is a nice, quiet place to visit if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.

It was a good day. I enjoyed the nature, the food, and just the general vibe of the place. If you ever get a chance to visit, I think you’d enjoy it. It seems like a really nice place to go to school, too, if you’re into that sort of thing. I have taken many photos, and I will post some of them here later.
