Today I decided to do something a little different and fun. I’m a huge fan of Mariah Carey, not just for her amazing voice but also for her iconic style. So, I thought, why not try to dress like Mariah Carey for a day? It sounded exciting and challenging, so I went for it!
First things first, I had to pick an outfit. Mariah is known for her glamorous and glittery dresses, especially during her performances. I started digging through my closet, hoping to find something that could even remotely resemble one of her fabulous looks. I found this black dress I bought a while back, and I thought, “This could work.” It wasn’t exactly like Mariah’s, but it had a certain vibe that I thought I could build on.
After selecting the dress, I moved on to accessories. Mariah loves her bling, so I grabbed all the sparkly jewelry I could find. I put on some shiny earrings, a couple of glittery bracelets, and a statement necklace to try and capture that signature Mariah sparkle. It felt a bit over the top, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?

Next up was makeup. I’m not a makeup expert, but I know Mariah often goes for a bold look. I did my best to follow some online tutorials, focusing on a smokey eye and some dramatic lashes. It took a few tries, and I definitely messed up a couple of times, but eventually, I got something that looked somewhat decent. I added a glossy lip to finish it off, just like I’ve seen Mariah do.
Getting Into Character
With the outfit and makeup sorted, it was time to really get into character. I put on some of Mariah’s greatest hits and started practicing my diva poses in front of the mirror. It was hilarious and a bit awkward, but I was determined to embrace the full Mariah experience. I even tried to hit some of her famous high notes, which was… an experience, to say the least. My neighbors probably weren’t thrilled, but I was having a blast.
I decided to wear my Mariah-inspired outfit out to run some errands. I figured, why not bring a little bit of that glamour into my everyday life? I got some curious looks, and a few people even asked if I was going to a party or something. I just smiled and said I was channeling my inner Mariah Carey. It was definitely a conversation starter!
By the end of the day, I had a newfound appreciation for Mariah’s style. It’s not easy to pull off those glamorous looks, and it takes a lot of confidence to wear something so bold. I had a lot of fun stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new. It was a great reminder that fashion can be a form of self-expression and a way to have fun with your appearance.
Would I dress like Mariah Carey every day? Probably not. But it was a fun experiment, and I’m glad I did it. It was a nice way to pay homage to one of my favorite artists and add a little sparkle to my day. If you’re a fan of Mariah or just looking to try something new, I highly recommend giving it a go.
