Alright, let’s gab about them itty-bitty shorts the gals are wearin’ these days. You know the ones, barely coverin’ anything, real short, like what you see on TV. These youngsters, they call ’em “extremely short shorts” or somethin’ fancy like that. I just call ’em “barely there” pants!
I seen ’em everywhere now. Used to be just for dancin’ or exercisin’, but now they wear ’em to the store, to the park, everywhere! The stores, they got all kinds. Some are tight, like them biker shorts, the ones they wear for yoga and whatnot. They say “tummy control” on ’em, like they gonna suck everything in. Lord knows I could use some of that, but I ain’t squeezin’ myself into nothin’ that tight!
And then there’s the denim ones. Now, denim shorts, them’s been around a long time. But these new ones, they ain’t like the ones I used to wear. Mine was longer, covered more. These new ones, they so short, they look like you just cut off a pair of jeans way too high. Some folks say they look like “high-waisted underwear”, and well, sometimes they ain’t wrong! But the young girls, they like ’em. Say they’re cool, keep ’em from gettin’ too hot in the summer.
- They got them stretchy ones, like what they wear for sports. They call it “spandex”, somethin’ like that. Real tight, hugs everything.
- And then there’s the cotton ones, those are softer. Good for sleepin’ or just loungin’ around the house.
- Oh, and the fancy ones! The ones with lace and frills, for when you want to look a little nicer, I guess.
I went to the store the other day, big one with everything in it, you know the kind. And they had a whole wall of just shorts! Denim, cotton, every color you can think of. Some with pockets, some without. And the prices! Some of them was cheaper than a loaf of bread, and some was so expensive, it could feed a family for a week! They had sales, too, sayin’ “up to 90% off!”. Lord, I don’t know how they make any money sellin’ stuff so cheap, but there it was.
The girls, they like to wear ’em with all sorts of things. Sometimes they wear ’em with a t-shirt, just casual like. Other times they dress ’em up with a fancy top and shoes. I even seen some wearin’ ’em with boots! Boots and short shorts, now that’s a sight. I reckon they think it looks fashionable. To each their own, I always say. It ain’t my place to judge what other folks wear. If they feel good in it, that’s all that matters.
But I tell you what, when I was young, we didn’t wear nothin’ like that. Our shorts was longer, more decent, you know? Times have changed, I guess. Fashion comes and goes, and what was old is new again. Maybe someday them long shorts I used to wear will come back in style. Who knows? But for now, it’s all about them short-shorts. And as long as the girls are happy and comfortable, well, I guess that’s alright. Just as long as they don’t catch a cold! The weather can be right tricky, you know, hot one day and cold the next. And these things barely cover nothin’.
So yeah, them extremely short shorts, they everywhere. You can find ’em online, in stores, everywhere you look. They got “micro shorts,” they got “booty shorts,” they got all kinds of names for ’em. But it’s all the same, really. Short, shorter, shortest. And I reckon they ain’t goin’ away anytime soon.
Now, I ain’t got nothin’ against them shorts or the gals wearin’ them. They can wear whatever they please, it ain’t my business. But sometimes, I just shake my head and wonder. But then again, I’m an old lady, and what do I know about fashion these days? Probably nothin’ at all! But I do know a thing or two about stayin’ cool in the summer, and if those shorts help them do that, then more power to ‘em.
So if you’re looking for a pair of shorts, well, you sure won’t have any trouble finding them. Just go to any store or look online. They got somethin’ for everyone, every size, every style. Just make sure you get a pair that fits, that’s all I’m sayin’. And maybe, just maybe, consider buyin’ some sunscreen too, you’re gonna be showin’ a whole lotta leg!
