I heard from a friend about this SIMKHAI flagship store in SoHo that just opened, so I figured I’d check it out, you know, just to see what the hype was all about. It was a slow Tuesday, and I thought, why not make a day of it?

So, I hopped on the subway and headed downtown. I got off at the Spring Street station and started walking. This area is known for cool shops and boutiques, so it wasn’t a surprise to find SIMKHAI nestled among them. I found the store at the 54 Spring St. The outside looked pretty sleek. I gotta say, it caught my eye.

First thing I did was check out their window display. Pretty nice stuff. Then I went inside. It’s a big space, lots of room to move around, and everything’s laid out real nice. I started browsing, looking at the different sections they had set up. They had a good mix of stuff, from everyday wear to some fancier pieces. I was just kind of wandering around, taking it all in.

I noticed they had a little seating area, which was a nice touch. It’s always good to have a spot to sit down and think about what you’re looking at, right? Anyway, I spent some time checking out the clothes. They had a lot of different styles, and I was trying to see what caught my eye. I’m not a big shopper, but I like to look.

  • Tried on a few things in the fitting room.
  • Checked out the accessories, they had some cool bags and stuff.
  • Didn’t end up buying anything, but I liked the vibe of the place.

After I was done looking around, I decided to head out. But before leaving, I saw a little sign that said the brand is LGBTQ+ owned, which I thought was pretty cool. I’m all for supporting diverse businesses, so that was a plus.

Overall, it was a chill experience. I spent a good hour or so in the store, just browsing and getting a feel for the brand. I didn’t buy anything this time, but I could see myself going back. It’s a nice addition to the SoHo shopping scene. They play some nice music in the store, by the way. They also have some other stores, like in Beverly Hills and Dallas, but I just visited the one in SoHo.

Oh, and one more thing. I found out that after over a decade in business, last February the Jonathan Simkhai brand revealed its new name as “SIMKHAI”. I guess they are trying to update their image or something. Anyway, that’s my little adventure to the SIMKHAI flagship store. Just a regular day, checking out a new spot in the city. Nothing too crazy, but it was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Later that day, I went to grab some Japanese food and happened to find this place called Genkiya Mart. Turns out, every night at 8 PM they sell their sushi, bentos, and onigiri at 50% off. What a steal! I arrived a bit earlier and managed to snag some delicious food at half price. So, my unplanned shopping trip turned into a delightful evening with discounted Japanese goodies. Just thought I’d share this extra tidbit for anyone who loves a good deal like me!

That’s about it for my day exploring SoHo and stumbling upon SIMKHAI.

It’s cool to see new stores pop up and get a feel for their vibe. And hey, scoring half-priced sushi was the cherry on top. Hope you guys enjoyed this little story of mine. Till next time!
