Well, let me tell ya, this 70’s sportswear, it’s somethin’ else. Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy clothes. But this stuff, it sure is popular now. All these young folks wearin’ it. Kinda makes me chuckle, seein’ how things come back around.
These 70s fashion, they call it. Lots of bright colors, I tell ya. And patterns! Stripes and all sorts of things. Reminds me of them old quilts my mama used to make. Not exactly the same, but the idea’s there. Lots of colors all mixed up together. Makes ya dizzy just lookin’ at it sometimes.
This 70’s sportswear for women is different, back when I was a girl, not many of us wear those. We just put on what we have. Clothes is clothes, you know. But now, girls and women like to wear these colorful sports clothes. Some say they are comfortable, I don’t know, I never wear one.

And the pants! Lord, them pants was somethin’. Big and wide at the bottom, they call ’em bell bottoms. We used to stuff our pantyhose down in there to make ’em look even bigger. Silly, ain’t it? But that’s what we did. And the shirts, some of ’em was real tight. Showed off everything ya had, if ya know what I mean. Now, they also call these retro look. My grandson told me. These new words, hard to keep track on them.
Now, these young’uns, they mix and match this old 70’s stuff with what they wear today. One girl had on a pair of them big ol’ pants with a shirt that looked like it came from my closet. Said she got it at one of them “vintage” stores. Payin’ good money for old clothes, I swear. 1970s fashion, they said it is.
They got these jackets, too. Track jackets, they call ’em. Bright colors, stripes down the sleeves. Look like somethin’ a race car driver might wear. And the shoes! Big ol’ sneakers, all different colors. They wear these 70’s sportswear everyday, not just for sports.
I saw one fella, he had on a shirt with all these crazy patterns on it. Swirls and shapes and I don’t know what all. Looked like somethin’ you’d see in one of them funny mirrors at the fair. He had it on with a pair of regular ol’ jeans. Said it was his “style.”
This vintage style, the kids like it. You see people wearing 70’s sportswear in the grocery store, at the park, everywhere. Some say it is comfortable, some say it is fashion. I say, they are clothes. They keep you warm, and that’s all that matters.
Well, fashion is a funny thing. One day somethin’s in, the next day it’s out. Then it’s back in again. Just like these 70’s clothes. Who woulda thought they’d be popular again? Not me, that’s for sure. They are not bad, but I am too old for these 70’s sportswear, I like my old cardigan.

I remember one time, back in the 70s, I had this bright orange shirt. It had these big ol’ flowers all over it. I thought I was the bee’s knees. Wore it to the town dance. Everybody was wearin’ somethin’ colorful. These 70’s sportswear, maybe they are not that bad. Just a little bit too much for me.
These kids today, they got it easy. They can just go to the store and buy whatever they want. Back in my day, we had to make do with what we had. Sometimes we’d trade clothes with our friends if we wanted somethin’ different. We didn’t have much, but we made it work.
It’s interestin’ to see how things have changed. I never thought I’d see the day when people would be wearin’ these 70’s clothes again. But here we are. Just goes to show ya, you never know what’s gonna come back in style. This 70’s sportswear is everywhere, you can’t miss it.
I guess it’s kinda nice to see a little bit of the past come back to life. Even if it is in the form of some crazy lookin’ clothes. Reminds me of simpler times. When we didn’t worry so much about what we were wearin’. We just wore what we had, and we were happy. Maybe that’s why they like it. Maybe it reminds them of somethin’ too. Or maybe they just like the bright colors. Who knows.
