Alright, let’s talk about them fancy clothes in Paris, you know, the street fashion stuff. I saw some pictures, and let me tell ya, it’s somethin’ else. Them city folks dress real different, that’s for sure.

First off, I saw a whole bunch of them wearing these big, oversized jackets. Looks like they borrowed their husband’s coat or somethin’. They call ’em “blazers,” I think. Real boxy and kinda hangin’ off ya. Not sure I’d wear one myself, seems like it’d get in the way when you’re feedin’ the chickens or workin’ the garden, ya know? But them city gals, they strut around in ’em like they own the place. And underneath, most of the time they got these neat shirts. Not the flowery ones like we wear to church, mind you. These are more, I dunno, plain but sharp. They call it “crisp shirting” I heard. Like a good ironed handkerchief, I guess.

  • Big jackets, real big.
  • Shirts that look ironed stiff.
  • Lots of plain colors, not much for patterns.

Now, another thing I noticed, is that they ain’t wearin’ no bright colors, mostly. Lots of blacks and whites, and maybe some gray or beige. Kinda boring if you ask me. I like a good floral print, or maybe a nice bright red. But them Paris folks, they like it simple, I guess. Maybe it’s easier to match, I dunno. Less thinkin’ in the mornin’, maybe that’s it. Less time spent worryin’ about whether your shirt goes with your pants, and more time for whatever them city folks do all day.

And the pants! Don’t even get me started on the pants. Some are tight, some are loose, some are short, some are long. It’s a whole mix-up, I tell ya. But one thing’s for sure, they all seem to cost a pretty penny. I saw one pair in a picture, looked like it had more holes than fabric, and they said it was worth more than my whole chicken coop! Can you believe that? Crazy, I tell ya, just plain crazy. I’d rather buy a good pair of overalls, lasts longer and you can actually get some work done in ‘em.

The shoes, now, those are somethin’. Some of ‘em are wearin’ these tall pointy boots, even in the summer. How they walk in ‘em all day, I’ll never know. My feet would be killin’ me. And others got these little flat shoes, like ballet slippers. Seems like they’d trip over every crack in the sidewalk, ya know? I’m stickin’ to my good, sturdy work boots, thank you very much. At least I know I ain’t gonna break an ankle walkin’ to the mailbox.

And then there’s the accessories. Big sunglasses, even when it ain’t sunny. Scarves wrapped around their necks like they’re cold, even when it’s hot. And purses, oh lord, the purses! Some are so tiny they can barely fit a lipstick, and others are so big they could carry a small child. I carry my stuff in a good ol’ market basket, sturdy and gets the job done. Don’t need nothin’ fancy.

So, that’s what I saw in them Paris street fashion pictures. Big jackets, plain shirts, crazy pants, and shoes that don’t make no sense. And all of it costin’ more money than I make in a year. But hey, to each their own, right? If they wanna wear that stuff, let ‘em. Me, I’ll stick to my comfortable clothes, the ones that let me get my work done without worryin’ about lookin’ like I just stepped out of a magazine. Practicality, that’s what I say. Gotta be able to move and work and not worry about your clothes gettin’ in the way.

At the end of the day, I guess it’s all about what makes you feel good. And if wearin’ them fancy clothes makes them city gals feel good, then more power to ’em. Me? I’ll stick to my overalls and work boots. At least I know I can get things done, and that’s what matters most. Comfort over style any day, that’s my motto.
