Okay, so I’ve been seeing this brand, Johnny Was, popping up everywhere lately. You know, the one with all those flowy, embroidered tops and dresses? I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about, figured I’d grab a pair of their jeans to try out. I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl most days, so I thought, why not?
First, I did a little digging into the brand itself. Turns out, Johnny Was has been around since the late 80s. The founder, Eli Levite, named it after a Bob Marley song, “Johnny Was a Good Man” – pretty cool, right? They started out with those signature boho-chic styles, all vintage vibes and California dreamin’. Think embroidered velvet shirts and flowy kimonos. But lately, I noticed they started doing denim.
So, I went browsing, looking for a pair to start with. Their website has a bunch, but I finally settled on a pair called “Suki Wide Leg Jeans”. They looked comfy, a little different from my usual skinny jeans, and had this deep, rich color that I liked. The description said they were a “modern take on a traditional favorite” – sounded promising. They’re made from cotton but have some stretch in them, which is always a plus in my book. Classic five-pocket design, nothing too crazy, just a good, solid pair of wide-leg jeans.
I placed the order and waited. It took about a week, which felt like forever when you’re excited about new clothes. Finally, the package arrived. I ripped it open and there they were. The jeans felt substantial, like they were made to last. I slipped them on and…wow. They were surprisingly comfortable. The wide-leg style was a nice change, and the fit was pretty spot on. They felt a little loose around the waist initially, but after wearing them for a while, they seemed to mold to my shape.
