Okay, so, I got this dress the other day, and it’s cute and all, but the thing is kinda see-through. Not like, totally naked, but enough that you can see my undies, and that’s not really the look I’m going for.

What to Wear Under Gown See Through?

So, first thing I did was I tried to find thicker clothes. I remembered some blog said something about denim or thick cotton being good, but I don’t really have any dresses like that. Most of my stuff is, like, jersey or whatever. Not super thick. Then I thought, maybe I should just do it another way.

So, I went to my closet, trying to find something to wear underneath. I dug around and found this old slip, you know, the kind your grandma probably wears. It was kinda long and not really my style, but I tried it on anyway. It definitely helped with the see-through situation, but I felt like a total grandma, not cool at all.

Then I remembered I had this nude-colored camisole. I guess I could just wear it to cover it up. The color was okay, but it was still a little bunchy under the dress. Plus, it was hot that day, and I didn’t really wanna wear a whole extra layer.

So, I ditched the cami and the slip. I ended up just wearing nude underwear. It wasn’t perfect, but it did the trick. You couldn’t really see anything, and I felt way more comfortable than I did with the slip or the cami. I do remember that I have some friends who don’t have this kind of underwear, so I can’t really help with that.

I thought there must be some minimalist way to deal with this. The minimalist inside me was screaming to just deal with it, but I couldn’t.

    Here’s what I learned:

  • Thicker fabrics are your friend if you don’t want your clothes to be see-through.
  • Slips can work, but they might make you feel like you’re 80 years old.
  • Camisoles can also work, but they might be too hot or bunchy.
  • Nude underwear is probably the easiest and most comfortable option.

Anyway, that’s my story about dealing with a see-through dress. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it was definitely a learning experience. Hope this helps someone else out there who’s struggling with the same problem! If you have other ways, just tell me!
