I wanted to share my latest project with everyone today. It’s all about shoes, well, more specifically, the buyers of shoes. It might sound simple, but trust me, there’s a lot to unpack here.
So, I started with a basic question: Who’s buying shoes these days? Is it mostly online or in-store? I spent days digging through data. Looked at all sorts of reports, trying to get a grip on the current market. Let me tell you, the numbers are quite interesting.
Turns out, a heck of a lot of people, around 4.6 billion people across the world, still buy shoes in brick-and-mortar stores. Yeah, you heard that right. But, at the same time, online sales are huge too, with about 2 billion people clicking “buy now” from their couches. I was trying to find out who these online shoppers are, you know? It was a lot of data.
And where are they buying? Department stores seem to be a popular spot, both online and offline. For online, everyone says Amazon is the king. I mean, I use it too, and they’ve got everything from Nike to Adidas. You name it and their price is not bad. It made my research a bit easier, to be honest.
Here’s something that surprised me: the resale market is quite big. People buy shoes not just to wear them, but to flip them for a profit. Then there are those who just buy what they need. But even those who buy for personal use, some buy a lot! So, I looked at each type, what they like, and what they don’t like. It is a different perspective than just looking at brands and prices.
- Resale Buyers: These folks are all about the profit. They snag up limited editions and hot releases, then sell them for a higher price.
- Personal Use Buyers: These are your everyday shoppers, buying shoes for themselves or their families. Some are really into the latest trends, others just want something comfortable and practical.
Then, I dived into the where, other than Amazon and department stores. What are some good places to buy or sell shoes? So I made a list of places to check out and compare. One of the popular ones that popped up was eBay. Seems like a decent platform to offload some shoes. And you know, after this project, I might just list a few pairs myself!
Putting it all together, it was a wild ride. From raw numbers to different types of buyers, to where they shop. I feel like I’ve got a much better understanding of the shoe market now. Hope you find this information useful too!
