Well, let me tell you about these here women and their short shorts. I seen all sorts, you know?
Short shorts, what are they anyway?
You got your “short overalls”, like them young girls wear, all loose and comfy-like. They call ’em “rompers” too, somethin’ fancy like that. Then there’s them “sweat shorts”, the kind you wear when you’re just lazin’ around the house, you know, doin’ nothin’ much. They got somethin’ called a “high waist” on ‘em, holds your belly in, I guess. Some folks call ’em “lounge shorts” too. All the same to me, just shorts, right?
And then you got your “cute shorts”. Lord, the things they do with them now. Flowers, little holes, all frayed and whatnot. They call it “eyelet” and “denim cut-offs”. Sounds fancy, but it’s just shorts with holes and threads hangin’ off, if you ask me. They even got these “mini shorts”, barely nothin’ there, showin’ off everything. And then “biker shorts”, tight like sausage casings, they are. Some folks even call ’em “hotpants”, “les shorts”, “short cuts”, “cool pants” and even “shortootsies”, or “booty shorts” if they’re really short. So many names for the same darn thing.
Who wears short shorts and why?
Well, everyone, it seems like. Young girls, old gals, everyone in between. I heard tell that if you’re a small woman, short shorts make your legs look longer. Something about showin’ more skin. They say 3 to 5 inches is the best, but I don’t know, seems awful short to me.
Why do they wear ‘em? Comfort, mostly. It gets hot, you know? And sometimes, it’s just about lookin’ good, feelin’ good. They see them movie stars and them “influencers” on that there internet, wearin’ short shorts, and they wanna do it too. Fashion, they call it. Comes and goes like the wind.
My take on short shorts
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s right or wrong, you know? Everyone’s got their own way of doin’ things. But back in my day, we didn’t go around showin’ off everything. We had dresses, skirts, maybe some longer shorts for workin’ in the garden. But times change, I guess. And these young women, they wanna feel good about themselves, and if short shorts do that for ‘em, well, who am I to judge?
- Comfort: Can’t deny it, they probably feel good on a hot day.
- Style: They say it’s stylish, all these different kinds. I just see shorts, but what do I know?
- Confidence: Seems like wearing them makes some women feel good about themselves, and that’s important, I reckon.
Just make sure you’re wearin’ ‘em for the right reasons, you know? Not to try and be someone you ain’t. And for goodness sake, make sure they fit right! Nothin’ worse than seein’ someone walkin’ around in shorts that are too tight or too short. It just ain’t right. And remember, what you wear on the outside ain’t as important as what’s on the inside. That’s what my mama always said. Be a good person, that’s what matters. Short shorts or long pants, it don’t make a lick of difference if you ain’t got a good heart.
So, there you have it. My two cents on women and their short shorts. Take it or leave it, it’s all the same to me. I’m just an old woman, what do I know about fashion? But I do know a thing or two about people, and as long as they’re happy and not hurtin’ nobody, that’s all that matters.
